Armor

Armor is protective clothing that can be worn by the player as well as some types of enemies. In addition to a defensive bonus, many sets of armor provide additional benefits including bonuses to defense, energy, and temperature protection. Defense lowers damage taken from attacks, energy is expended when using certain tech and also used as "ammo" for certain ranged weapons, and the temperature protection decreases the effect of cold.

Armor comes in sets of three: Head, chest, and legs, although each of these can be worn separately. Once armor is acquired or crafted, it can be equipped by dragging it into the armor slot in the inventory screen.

Armor is found in several ways: crafting, in the environment during exploration, in chests or by killing monsters and bosses.

While weapons are procedurally generated, armor is not.

Armor sets

Racial differences

Each race will have unique armor sets that will have different abilities:

  • Avian: Allows you to glide
  • Apex: Allows you to jump higher, maybe run faster
  • Floran: Allows you to convert sunlight into extra energy
  • Human: Allows you to carry more items "possibly" - might change as it's "a bit dull.. though very useful" -Tiy
  • Hylotl: Allows you to breathe longer underwater and swim faster
  • Glitch: Allows you to mine faster

Players will "probably" have to be wearing a complete set to gain these abilities. The armor gives these abilities, not the race itself. As the player progresses through the game, they will be able to craft other races' armors and gain their abilities, but at the start players may only craft their own race's armor.[1]

Armor by slot

Each of the armor slots also has a vanity slot. This will change your appearance, but not give you any of the bonuses.
